This project started out as a way for me to donate my extra “commons” to kids in Central Kentucky, which lead to a movement. The goal for the project then moved to donating 1 million cards, because, at the time, that was a goal that would have taken 10 plus years to achieve, if ever.
I think I may have set the goals too low due to the unexpected amazing people in this world; I never dreamed I would start getting at least a box of card per week, sometimes several boxes a week…heck, sometimes several boxes A DAY!
I have decided to create another goal, only this time, the goal will take a lot more work and I would consider it the “bucket list” that I spoke about earlier.
After we reach our 1 million goal; I’m going to start focusing on all 50 states in the United States of America.
We have already donated to just about every single charity/children’s home that I can find in Central Kentucky and we’ve already branched out to other states.
The plan is pretty simple- I want to receive a donation AND make a donation to every single state in the USA! (We have received donations from Canada already and I would love to be able to one day take a donation up to the kids in that country as well!)
I’m going to use this little spot of the site to track our process and, honestly, we’ve already got a great start on the goal.
I do want to make something VERY clear, just because your state may be listed below doesn’t mean that we still can’t use donations from you or that we won’t be coming back to your state! All donations are not only welcome but GREATLY APPRECIATED!
As far as states donated too; there is no way we can afford to travel to every single state and personally deliver a donation; however, I’m going to start doing research and find a charity within each state to mail a donation too….which is where the CHIP IN program comes into play because mailing heave cards isn’t cheap! So if you want to help with C4K: 50/50, just head over to our CHIP IN page – commons4kids.chipin.com and CHIP IN!!! (PLEASE remember: we are NOT an official non-profit organization and your donations are NOT tax deductable; you are simply donating to help the project…not for a financial investment.)
